Why is handicapped a bad word




















This is the belief that one participant is stronger or better than another. The term was used to describe people viewed as physically or mentally flawed. The Americans Civil Rights Act gave inspiration to people with disabilities. Is there something wrong with the parking spot or bathroom?

Realistically, life is not a horse race and people with disabilities are just that, people. Those with disabilities are far from being beggars or useless individuals.

But for activists looking for a way to refer to their new campaigns and organizations, disability seemed the better choice.
